Horticulture (MSc)
1. General Information
Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU), Faculty of Agriculture was established in 1995, then the department of Horticulture was activated in 2006. Education on the Master of Science grade was started by the department in 2008-2009. Undergraduate education began in 2011-2012, and the department consists of 4 Full Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 3 Research Assistants.
The department consists of four disciplines as Viticulture and Grape Breeding, Fruit Growing and Breeding, Vegetable Growing and Breeding, and Ornamental Plants Growing and Breeding, and proceeds studies and academic activities on these four departments.

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The MSc program consists of minimum of seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, to graduate from the program, minimum 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit thesis study must be completed. The letter grade of the courses must be at least CC, and the cumulative grade ponit average (CGPA) must be at least 3.0/4.0..

It is possible to get a job in public offices, universities, research institutes, banks, seed and agricultural pesticide firms, nurseries, factories that process horticultural products, firms work on the storage and conservation of the products, agricultural cooperatives, producers and exporters associations and, quality control and research laboratories, and could make consultancy at various firms.
Besides, different activities include commercial fruit and vegetable growing, vine growing, arboriculture, seedling cultivation, green house growing, ornamental plants growing, mushroom growing, cold storage management, pesticide, seed, fertilizer production, and trade could be performed.

11. Examinations, Measurement and Evaluation
Evaluation and assesment methods for each course are determined by the course instructor and announced in the beginning of the term. The relevant information is described in the Course Information Form of each course. Grades/success evalutions of courses are conducted according to the ESOGU-GER.
12. Graduation Requirements
The MSc program consists of minimum seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, minimum of 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit thesis study must be taken.
The MSc program is four semesters and the maximum completion period is six semesters.
To graduate from the program, the student must write their thesis according to the Thesis Writing Guide determined by the Graduate School and succesfully defend in front of jury.

15. Department / Program Opportunities
In the areas of department in ESOGU, Faculty of Agriculture, Ali Numan Kıraç Campus, there are;
• 70 da of collection orchard of different pome and stone fruit species (apple, pear, plum, cherry, sour cherry, peach, nectarine), 6 da of the apple orchard, 10 da of the vegetable parcel,
• 500 m2 greenhouse,
• Molecular biology and physiology laboratories for scientific researches.
In the areas of ESOGU Agriculture Faculty in Sarıcakaya – Mayıslar, there are;
• Olive cultivation is carried out in the area..
• An olive oil plant was established in buildings belonging to our faculty in Mayıslar campus and started to process at the end of 2011.
