Master’s Degree Program in Primary Education with Non-thesis

1.      General Information

Program 2009/2010 from the academic year, has been incorporated into the Institute of Educational Sciences. Within the program, as well as compulsory subjects related to the field of basic education science elective course fort he training are also included.

The main purpose of the program is to improve the quality of elementary education teachers and academics in the field of elementary education.  Teaching courses in the field of elementary school teacher is in need of specialization. Therefore, the primary first step will be trained how to teach for specializing. Among aims of program is to analyze various problems of education and training accord with process of scientific research.

 

2.      Degree Awarded

Master Degree with Thesis: Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a master diploma in elementary education.

Master Degree without Thesis: Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a master diploma without thesis in elementary education.

 

3.      Grade Level

Master degree diploma with thesis or without thesis.

 

4.      Admission Requirements

To start the program is valid general admission requirements applying for Turkish and foreign students.

 

5.      Recognition of Prior Learning

Turkish Higher Education institutions, recognition of prior non-formal learning, vertical, horizontal and the  university is determined by the Board of Higher Education in the transitions’ “Institutions of higher education programs undergraduate students and switching, double major, minor and credit transfer between corporate action on basis of regulation” carried out within the scope of.

Exams of exemption are organized certificate-based or experience-based learning outside of formal educational institutions in recognition for some of the computer and foreign language courses at the beginning of each academic semester in Turkey. Students who take the exam and pass the courses in the curriculum are exempt from the relevant.

 

6.      Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Master degree with thesis:  The student who is in this program should not have any FF, DZ or YZ grades in order to complete all the courses in the program. In this program, the student must have a minimum of 27 credits and be at least 3.00 out of 4.00 of the GPA

Master degree without thesis:  The student who is in this program should not have any FF, DZ or YZ grades in order to complete all the courses in the program. In this program, the student must have a minimum of 30 credits and be at least 2.50 out of 4.00 of the GPA

 

7.      Purposes of the programme

After finishing the programme, students;  

  • who can enhance and develop the general knowledge of the Educational Sciences, basic theories and practices in the area of ​​Elementary School Teaching.

  • who can comprehend the relationships between theories and applications related to Elementary School Teaching,

  • who can manage independently scientific research process related to Elementary School Teaching,

  • who can construct a problem related to the field of classroom education independently, develops solutions, implements and evaluates the results,

  • who can improve suggestions the problems of Elementary School Teaching by using qualitative and quantitative research methods,

  • who can evaluate the knowledge they learned critically and can manage learning,

  • who studies in the field of elementary education can be carried out with lifelong learning consciousness,

  • who can share the knowledge related to the field verbal or written in national and international platforms.

  • who can transfer knowledge to groups in and out of individual and professional studies in written, oral and visual form,

  • who can evaluate the strategies, policies and applications and their results.

  • who can apply the knowledge, skills and problem solving skills in workings of  interdisciplinary,

  • who can evaluate current developments in the field of elementary education in the direction of national values and country facts.

 

8.      Program Competencies (Learning Outcomes)

• Develop and deepen general knowledge on educational science in the framework of basic theories and practices in the field of elementary education.

• Understand the relationship between the theory and practice of elementary education.

• Independently undertake the scientific research process on the field of elementary education on its own.

• Develop solutions to problems related to the field of elementary education using quantitative and qualitative scientific research methods.

• Constructs a problem independently of the classroom area, develops solutions, applies them, and evaluates the results.

• Evaluates critical thinking and directs learning in the field of elementary learning.

• Studies in the field of elementary education can be carried out with lifelong learning consciousness.

• Share information about the field of education in an effective way both verbally and in writing at national / international level.

• Developments in the field of elementary education can be conveyed in writing, verbally and visually effective ways to groups in and out of individual and professional studies.

• Evaluate the strategies, policies and practices developed in the field of elementary education and the results obtained therefrom.

• Can apply the knowledge, skills and problem-solving abilities that are related to the field of elementary education in interdisciplinary studies.

• Evaluates current developments in the field of elementary education in the direction of national values ​​and country facts.

 

9.      Graduates Employment Opportunities

Students graduating from the Master’s program in elementary school teaching, public and private educational institutions under the Ministry of National Education, and on the private and state universities departments work as a research assistant or teaching assistant.

 

10.      Top Degree Programs

Succesful completion of undergraduate degree candidates to take the ALES (academic personnel and postgraduate education entrance exam) score or equivalent examinations and apply on condition that they have sufficient knowledge of foreign language education in their field or a related field may doctoral programs.
