Social studies with thesis has accepted its first students in the 2014-2105 academic year within the Institute of Educational Sciences. The master program in question focuses on the disciplines such as social studies, democracy human rights and citizenship education, teaching history and teaching geography.
The aims of social studies masters’ program are to educate candidates to pursue academic careers in the field and develop skills in excellence in teaching and learning environments.
Students who successfully complete the program are received Masters’ Degree in the field of Social Studies.
Masters’ degree
In order to start Social Studies Master’s Program, 5th,11th and 16 th Articles for student acceptance in Eskisehir Osmangazi University Graduate Education Regulations should be taken into consideration.
Acceptance of transfer students for thesis and non-thesis Master’s Program and Doctorate Program of social studies is performed on the basis of 28th Article in Eskisehir Osmangazi University Graduate Education Regulations.
Acceptance of students to preparatory programs for thesis and non-thesis Master’s Program and Doctorate Program of social studies is performed on the basis of 29th Article in Eskisehir Osmangazi University Graduate Education Regulations.
Master’s programme in Social Studies comprises of at least 9 courses which should not be less than a total of 27 credits, seminar course and thesis study. Seminar course and thesis study are non-credit and evaluated by satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

At the end of the Thesis Social Studies, students will be able to;
to know the theories and applications which are used in the field of social studies.
to explain the basic characteristics of scientific research process in a detailed way.
to develop an ability of pursuing national and international publications in the field of social studies education.
to discuss problems of social studies education and working in co-ordinating, supervising and evaluation.
to aware of the ethical principles and reflect these principles practices in the field.
to communicate effectively with the practitioners and employees for supporting the field with national, international and interdisciplinary studies.
to realize the problems that occur in social studies education.
to evaluate the relationship between educational organizations and the other organizations, civil society organizations, society, business environment.
to discuss principles of social studies.
to analyse the importance of social studies in preparing youngters to opporate efficiently in society.
to comprehend the political, social, historical, cultural, economical and international developments which dominate turkish educational system
to analyze the relationship between education and other interdisciplinary studies such as sociology, philosophy, political science, anthropology, management science, behavioral science, psychology, literature and economics.
to gain information about educational systems and practices in the field of social studies of different countries.
to find a systematic and original solution to the problem existing in the field by using scientific research methods.
to gain basic quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
Students who complete the Master's Degree in social studies can be employed as research assistant or instructor in faculty of education in universities, specialist or assistant specialist in educational departments of various public or private organizations.
Candidates who successfully complete master education can study in their field or related field PhD programs on condition that they take ALES or equivalent exams and have adequate level of foreign language knowledge.
