Between 1981-2004 the head of pharmacology department was Prof. Dr. İpek Cingi. Since 2004 the head of department has been Prof. Dr. Kevser Erol. Now 3 Professors, 1 associate professor, 1 assistant professor, 1 lecturer, 1 master, 2 research assistants, 2 laboratory technicians and 1 administrative personel are on duty in the department. There are 3 students in PhD and 3 students in master program from Health Sciences Institute.

The lectures of faculty of medicine, rational pharmacotherapy education, medical laboratory equipment lectures, the lectures of School of Health Professions and MSc and PhD education are given by our faculty members.

In terms of research, in vitro isolated organ bath, cardiovascular pharmacology, molecular pharmacology and psychopharmacology research labs are presented. In addition in the therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology lab 29 drugs and narcotic drugs are analyzed for 24-hour. Approximately 13000 samples total are analyzed in a year.

2. Qualification

The students who succesfully complete the pharmacology education acquire master/PhD diploma

3. Level Of Qualification

4. Admission and Enrollment Requirements

General admission and enrollment terms are eligible for Turkish and foreign students.

5. Recognition of Former Education

In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, recognition of former formal education, vertical and lateral transfer and transfer between departments in the university is fulfilled within in the scope of YÖK (Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu-Higher Education Council) regulations namely “The transfer between associate degrees and undergraduate degrees, double major, lateral branch and inter-institutional credit transfer regulations in the Higher Education Institutions”.

8. Program Competencies (Learning Outcomes)

The students who complete the M Sc/ PhD program are cabaple of defining the pharmacology, basic pharmacological principles, the pharmaceutical preparations and routes of drug administration, explaining the pharmacokinetic phases with examples, the drug-drug interactions and their mechanisms, the factors that modify drug actions, autonomic nervous system pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, central nervous system pharmacology, the treatment approach in electrolyte fluid, acid/base balance disorders and poisonings.

The postgraduate students can;

  1. think, question and have problem solving skills related to pharmacological issues
  2. expand and deepen pharmacological knowledge by scientific research and so obtained knowledge can be judged, interpreted and applied.
  3. design specific research subject and define experimental procedures needed to investigate the hypothesis.
  4. analyze the data at the end of research and evaluate in pharmacological aspect.
  5. introduce their data in a scientific report.
  6. explain the importance of studying with experimental animals.
  7. be a leader and evaluate the strategic performs of study groups.
