Physics (MSc)

1. General Information

Our department started its education life at Anadolu University in 1982; then joined Osmangazi University, which was established by law in 1993 and continues its education under this roof.

In our department, there are 20 faculty members and 7 research assistants, 6 students and 16 research laboratories in the departments of General Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, High Energy and Plasma Physics, Nuclear Physics and Solid State Physics. Master and PhD students can use the research laboratory for their thesis studies. Our department staff, apart from conducting Physics I, Physics II and other related courses for other faculties and departments of our university; they also carry out national and international projects, Master's and Doctorate programs.

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The MSc program consists of minimum of seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, to graduate from the program, minimum 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit thesis study must be completed. The letter grade of the courses must be at least CC, and the cumulative grade ponit average (CGPA) must be at least 3.0/4.0..

9. Graduates Employment Opportunities

• Our graduates who have completed their graduate education can become academicians who will serve other basic and applied sciences,

• They can work in the energy sector such as nuclear and renewable energy, which has an increasing importance for our country,

• They can work in various fields of industry, research and development laboratories,

• They can work as researchers and/or experts in public and similar private sector organizations such as Turkish Atomic Energy Agency, Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council, Mineral Research and Exploration Institute, Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, State Hydraulic Works,

• They can be employed as experts and/or technical staff in various branches of the industry in order to contribute to our country's need for trained quality-control measurement personnel.

Along with the fields listed above, they will have the opportunity to work in different disciplines in new employment fields (such as nanotechnology, information technologies, energy and medical physics) that have emerged in parallel with the developments in science and technology today.

 11. Examinations, Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluation and assesment methods for each course are determined  by the course instructor and announced in the beginning of the term. The relevant information is described in the Course Information Form of each course. Grades/success evalutions of courses are conducted according to the ESOGU-GER.

 

12. Graduation Requirements

The MSc program consists of minimum seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, minimum of 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit  thesis study must be taken.

The MSc program is four semesters and the maximum completion period is six semesters.

To graduate from the program, the student must write their  thesis according to the Thesis Writing Guide determined by the Graduate School and succesfully defend in front of jury.
