Computer Engineering

1. General Information

The Master's program was opened in 2016 and admitted its first students in the fall semester of 2016-2017. The language of education in our graduate program is Turkish. Our master's program consists of two parts, the course period and the thesis period. During the course period, students have to fill a total of 60 ECTS, including 2 compulsory, 5 technical electives, and 1 Seminar course. In the thesis period, they graduate with 60 credits of Specialization Field Course and Master Thesis Studies with a total of 120 ECTS credits.

The doctoral program was opened in 2017 and started to accept students in the fall semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. In the doctoral program, students complete a minimum of 7 courses and 1 seminar course. Afterward, they graduate with a total of 240 ECTS credits together with the Thesis Proposal worth 30 ECTS, the Specialization Field Courses they will take in 4 semesters, and the Thesis Studies. Doctoral students must pass a minimum of 3 successful Thesis Monitoring Committees in order to enter the thesis defense.

In our graduate programs, there are 6 branches of science: Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Hardware, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, and Robotics.

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The MSc program consists of minimum of seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, to graduate from the program, minimum 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit thesis study must be completed. The letter grade of the courses must be at least CC, and the cumulative grade ponit average (CGPA) must be at least 3.0/4.0..

9. Graduates Employment Opportunities

Our students who successfully graduate from our Computer Engineering master's program have the title of "Master of Engineer".

Our graduates are employed in many positions such as computer engineer, software engineer, system analyst, system programmer, database manager, design engineer, network administrator, cyber-security specialist, and R&D engineer in important companies in Turkey and around the world.

Our graduates who want to continue their academic career, on the other hand, have the opportunity to work in technology centers such as Teknopark/Technokent and R&D Centers in universities, as well as in the positions of research assistants or specialists at universities.

In public and private institutions, the defense industry, banking, e-commerce, high technology institutes, telecommunications, etc. can be employed in the IT and R&D departments of large companies operating in the fields.

Our students who graduate with a doctorate degree have the opportunity to continue their academic life in universities in Turkey and around the world. They can also become project managers or team leaders in the R&D departments of large companies.

 11. Examinations, Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluation and assesment methods for each course are determined  by the course instructor and announced in the beginning of the term. The relevant information is described in the Course Information Form of each course. Grades/success evalutions of courses are conducted according to the ESOGU-GER.

 

12. Graduation Requirements

The MSc program consists of minimum seven courses, a seminar course, specialization field courses and a thesis study. According to the ECTS regulations, minimum of 60 ECTS credits of course work and 60 ECTS credit  thesis study must be taken.

The MSc program is four semesters and the maximum completion period is six semesters.

To graduate from the program, the student must write their  thesis according to the Thesis Writing Guide determined by the Graduate School and succesfully defend in front of jury.

15. Department / Program Opportunities

There are 4 general purpose education laboratories in our department, each containing 25-30 computers. In addition, there are research laboratories where thematic studies are carried out under the leadership of academicians who are experts in their fields, such as Robotics, Information Security, microprocessors, networks, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Software, and Smart Agriculture.

Students attending the program can participate in national and international projects where faculty members are executives or researchers and can carry out their thesis studies to solve the problems determined within the project's scope.
