Biochemistry M.Sc. Program

 

1. General Information

The Laboratory of Medical Biochemistry, which has been serving since April 1977, was founded proxy by microbiologist Prof. Dr. Filiz AKŞİT and pathologist Prof. Dr. Kemal BAYRI. After being a Department was served as head of department by Doç. Dr. Kural GÜLBAHAR, Prof. Dr. K. Muzaffer ÜSTDAL, Prof. Dr. Ekin ÖNDER, Prof. Dr. Mine ERDEN İNAL and Prof. Dr. Ömer ÇOLAK, respectively. Today the head of our department is Prof. Dr. İ. Özkan ALATAŞ.

In the department of Medical Biochemistry worked 4 professors, 1 associate professors, 1 assistant professors and 6 research assistent. Our department is included also doctoral students, graduate students, and laboratory technicians.

At the department are given to Faculty of Medicine 1, 2, and 3 grade students theoretical and practical courses in Biochemistry. Also at the Anadolu University, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Arts and Sciences, at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Science and at the Dumlupınar University (Kütahya) has been supported the Biochemistry courses. At the ESOGÜ Eskişehir Vocational School of Health, Health Services High School and the Faculty of Dentistry are still given theoretical and/or practical biochemistry courses.

4. Acceptance Requirements

The applicant must have a minimum score of 55 in the nonverbal section of the National Graduate Record Examination. And the certified foreign language score must be minimum 40.

 

5. Acceptance of Former Educations

This is determined by the Regulations by the Board of Higher Education.

 

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must succeed all lectures that were selected. And the average score must not be under CC. The student must complete minimum 90 ECTS credits and submit a successful graduate thesis.

 

7. Program Profile (Objectives)

The M.S. program in Biochemistry gives students the opportunity to improve their background knowledge in both the biochemical and basic medical sciences. And teach them modern biochemical research methods and techniques.

 

8. Program Qualification (Outputs)

Upon completion of the program, students will learn the biochemical terminology,biochemical concepts. modern biochemical research methods and techniques to prepare themselves for an academic career.

 

9. Employment Opportunities

Holders of this degree may be employed in several Institutes, Faculties and Colleges as lecturers and/or researchers.

 

10. Access to Higher Educational Programs

Holders of this degree may apply to doctorate programs.

15. Department Resources

For scientific research in our Department, including UV spectrophotometer, ELISA reader, HPLC equipment and a fully automated devices of Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory are working prior to international standards.
