Agricultural Biotechnology Program

Agricultural Biotechnology Department/ Program

1.General Information

Agricultural Biotechnology Department was established in 2011 with the law of 606 coded by Higher Education Council. Agricultural Biotechnology Department is a part of Faculty of Agriculture, and covers the study areas such as plant biotechnology, animal biotechnology, enzyme and microbial biotechnology.

The aim of the Agricultural Biotechnology Department/Program isto educate engineers equipped with the ability to accelerate the developments in agriculture in the direction of developments in the world by using different disciplinary approaches in the field of agricultural biotechnology.

2. Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology.

3. Level of Qualification

Bachelor of Science

4. Specific Admission Requirements

General admission requirements are applied to start the program for Turkish students.Acceptance and registration procedures of foreign students are made as noted in "ESKİŞEHİR OSMANGAZİ UNIVERSITY FOREIGN STUDENT APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS”.

5. Recognition of Prior Learning

The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their education to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted.

In Turkey at the beginning of each academic semester for recognition of certificate-based or experience-based learning outside of formal educational institutions, some computer and foreign language courses exams are organized. Students who take the exam and pass the courses in the curriculum are exempt  from the relevant course.

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from this undergraduate program, the students are required; to succeed in all of the courses listed in the curriculum of the program by getting the grade of at least DD/S with a minimum of 240 ECTS, to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00 and to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration (15 workdays after 4th semester and 25 workdays after 6th semester) and quality. (CGPA is calculated based on local credits).

7. Program Profile (Mission)

Our mission is to educate equipped engineers that hasten agricultural innovations through agricultural development in the world by cooperating with different disciplines in the agricultural biotechnology area and to be an internationally known department by performing research and a nationally and internationally respective department by giving education in the agricultural biotechnology area. Department of Agricultural Biotechnology targets to educate the agricultural engineers in agricultural biotechnology area, who have the ability to apply the methods used in the field of agricultural biotechnology and who can bring a different approach to plant and animal production with interdisciplinary studies.
