Mechanical Engineering Department

1. General Information

Education, training and research activities of Mechanical Engineering Department started for the first time when it was established as Eskişehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture in 1970.

The education continued between the years 1982 -1993 as the Mechanical Engineering Department within Anadolu University. Since 1993, it has been a part of Osmangazi University School of Engineering and Architecture. Approximately 2700 mechanical engineers have graduated from the department for the last 40 years. The Mechanical Engineering Department has five main branches of science. These main branches of science are Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Energy, Construction and Manufacturing, Mechanical Theory and Dynamics. About 500 at the normal education and 500 at the Secondary education in total 1000 students are presently enrolled in the department. In addition, 100 students are enrolled at the institute of science for MSc and PhD. Degrees. Every year the quotas for new candidates are made available. The laboratories present at the department are material science, heat applications, machine tools, hydraulic machines, engine and engine vehicles and CAD laboratory. Department faculty includes 11 professors, 2 associate professors, 10 assistant professors and 11 teaching staff with 3 Laboratory Technicians. English proficiency is required to be able to continue the study at the department so that the students have the language ability to overcome English education which started at the academic year of 2008-2009.  38% of the courses are instructed in English
