Strategic Goals

In line with the adopted mission and vision, the following strategic goals have been identified:

1. To play an active role in all kinds of international activities, projects, and knowledge production related to our field.
2. To help close the need for English teachers in our country and to train more qualified teachers.
3. To ensure that our department's faculty members and students can benefit from and use information technology environments.
4. To increase scientific activities quantitatively and qualitatively.
5. To apply for and host International Language Teaching Conferences.

Learning Outcomes

• Use the knowledge and skills they have in their field in their profession and daily life within the framework of legal and ethical rules.
• Be aware of information technologies and the use of the internet and technology in education, and be able to use this information effectively in English teaching.
• Be able to follow the scientific publications in the field of English teaching and attend relevant conferences, symposia, and meetings in order to develop themselves.
• Be able to use language teaching methods and techniques by being aware of individual learning differences.
• Have knowledge of concepts and processes related to language learning and be able to use this knowledge in teaching processes.
• Be aware of the importance of the culture of the target language in language teaching and be able to use literary works such as short stories, poems, novels, etc. that reflect the culture in skill teaching.
• Be aware of internal and external motivation in language teaching and be able to use these motivation types in a positive way.
• Have the ability to communicate in a foreign language in different environments they may encounter in their daily and professional life.
• Have the ability to understand, interpret, and evaluate different written texts in a foreign language that they may encounter in their daily life.
• Have the ability to understand different spoken texts in a foreign language that they may encounter in their daily life.
• Assimilate and apply contemporary English teaching methods, techniques, and theories in full and correct way.

Program Aim

The aim of the English Teaching Undergraduate Program is to train competent educators who have a good command of English, basic competencies in the fields of linguistics, foreign language teaching methods, English literature, and educational sciences, and can teach English as a foreign language at the kindergarten, elementary, middle, high school, and undergraduate levels.

Program Outcomes Information

The Department of Foreign Languages Education has set 20 program outcomes for the English Teaching undergraduate program and published them on the department website (https://egitimyabancidiller.ogu.edu.tr/Sayfa/Index/25/dersler-ve-icerikleri). These program outcomes are as follows:
