Mathematics - Computer Department

1. General Information

In 1993, The Mathematics department was established and in 2013, was reconstructed to the Mathematics - Computer Department which has departments are :

Algebra and Number Theory

Topology

Geometry

Applied Mathematics

Analysis  and Functional Theory

Basic of Mathematics and Logic

Computer  Sciences

Our first aim is to teach basic informations in different branch of Maths.  Second one is can be build up creative mathematicians, who are used to be  basic information about software and database issues which are learned by them.

2. Acquired Degree

The students who have finished successively this program are given the Mathematics - Computer undergraduate  certificate.

4. Admission and Enrollment Terms

To start the program general acceptance conditions are valid  for Turkish and foreign students.

 

5. Recognation of Former Education

In Turkish Higher Education Instutions, recognation of former formal education, vertical and literal transfer between departments in the university is fullfilled within in the scope of YÖK (Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu) regulations, namely “The transfer between associate degrees and undergraduate degrees, double majör, lateral branch and interinstutional credit transfer regulations in the Higher Education Institutions”.  At the beginning of the each period, exemption exams for language and computer science courses can be taken. Students who can pass the exam will be exempted of mentioned courses.

 

6. Competency Requirements and Terms

The students have to pass all of the courses in the program and must not have any FF, DZ  or YZ grades .In this program,the students should have minimum 240 ECTS and grade points average (gpa) have to be minimum 2 over 4.

 

7. Objectives of the Program

The aim of Department of Mathematics - Computer is bring up mathematicians who have high quality computer informations and computer scientists who have high quality math informations.There are a lot of elective math and computer science courses. So students who are interested in computer, join their computer science information to math concepts and also student who are interested in math use computer science in their math problems with this courses.

 

8. Program Competencies (Learning Outcomes)

The students who have graduate from this program successfully have accumulation and proficiency with the under conditions:

The ability of implication of Math and Computer  information,

The ability of solving problems and thinking analytically,

Thinking different scope of problems,

Description, modelling and solving a mathematical problem,

Enough equipments about computer programming(software and hardware)

Using appropriate algorithms with mathematical modelling and solving problems and having ability of writing computer programs.

10.  Pass to The Advance Degree Programs

The department offers a various research oppurtunities leading to PhD degrees fort he students who are successfully graduated from undergraduate program have sufficient grade of foreign language and ALES (or equivalent exams) grades.

15. Department / Program Facilities

There are 18 professors, 7 associated professors, 1 teaching assistant and 2 research assistant in the department.

On the other hand, 4 licence classroom, 60 students capacity of computer laboratories and 2 graduate classrooms are in the use of department.  In the classrooms have projection devices seperately ve in addition intelligent board is in the graduate classroom.
