Ph.D. Program in Physiology

1. General Information

The Department of Physiology was founded at 1981. The facilities of the department could respond then to only 80 undergraduate students at the beginning, but today it can respond to approximately 250 students. Today our department maintains education and research activities with 10 academic personals. The scientific facilities of the department give opportunities to do research in 7 different physiological laboratories. (see Department facilities).

2. Qualification

Physiology diploma is given to students who successfully coplete the program.

3. Level of Qualification

Ph.D. in physiology

4. Admission and Enrollment Terms

Health Science Institute Graduate Terms apply.

The applicant must have a diploma in Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary , M.Sc. degree in Physiology, M.Sc. degree in Medical Biology and Genetics or for other degrees  to complete the scientific preparation program of physiology.

5. Recognition of Former Educations

If applied for, this is decided by the Academic Council of Physiology Department and Board of Directors of Health Sciences Institute.

6. Qualification Requirements and Terms

The student must succeed all the courses that selected by the advisor and must complete a minimum of 63 ECTS credits out of these courses. The average score of these courses must not be under 3.00. The student must be successful in the proficiency exam and submit a successful Ph.D. thesis that include a physiological laboratory study.

7. Objectives of the Program

This program gives students the opportunity to improve their knowledge deeper in physiology. This program also provides ability of physiological thinking and teaches to apply by himself modern physiological research techniques.

8. Program Qualification (Outputs)

At the end of this program, students will learn Physiological topics in current medical and scientific literature. Student will be able share their knowledge with both undergraduates and other colleagues, design his own scientific research in his major area and develop critically thinking and writing skills.

9. Employment Opportunities

The holder of Ph.D. degree in physiology may be employed in several institutes, faculties and private companies as researcher and/or academic personnel.

10. Access to Further Educational Programs

Holders of this degree may apply to post-doctorate programs and be an academic personnel.
