1. General Information
The Laboratory of Medical Biochemistry, which has been serving since April 1977, was founded proxy by microbiologist Prof. Dr. Filiz AKŞİT and pathologist Prof. Dr. Kemal BAYRI. After being a Department was served as head of department by Doç. Dr. Kural GÜLBAHAR, Prof. Dr. K. Muzaffer ÜSTDAL, Prof. Dr. Ekin ÖNDER, Prof. Dr. Mine ERDEN İNAL and Prof. Dr. Ömer ÇOLAK, respectively. Today the head of our department is Prof. Dr. İ. Özkan ALATAŞ.
In the department of Medical Biochemistry worked 4 professors, 1 associate professors, 1 assistant professors and 6 research assistent. Our department is included also doctoral students, graduate students, and laboratory technicians.
At the department are given to Faculty of Medicine 1, 2, and 3 grade students theoretical and practical courses in Biochemistry. Also at the Anadolu University, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Arts and Sciences, at the Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Science and at the Dumlupınar University (Kütahya) has been supported the Biochemistry courses. At the ESOGÜ Eskişehir Vocational School of Health, Health Services High School and the Faculty of Dentistry are still given theoretical and/or practical biochemistry courses.
In addition to educational activities in the Department of Medical Biochemistry is available a clinical laboratory service. Moreover, in our research laboratories are presented numerous research studies and projects in progress.

4. Access Requirements
To appeal to the doctorate program the applicant must have a diploma for Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary or Pharmacy (programs with at least 10 semesters, prep classes not included) or an appropriate license diploma or graduate diploma or the applicant must have Ministry of Health approved specialty. The applicant must have a minimum score of55 in the nonverbal section of ALES (70 for applicant with a license diploma) of the National Graduate Record Examination. Specialty in Medicine score (TUS), more than 50, can be used instead of ALES score. The certified foreign language score (UDS) must be minimum 55 or equivalent in any other approved tests.
5. Acceptance of Former Educations
This is determined with the Regulations by the Board of Higher Education.
6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The student must succeed all lectures that were selected. And the average score must not be under 3.00. The student must complete minimum 63 ECTS credits, must be successful in the proficiency exam and submit a successful PhD thesis.
7. Program Profile (Objectives)
The doctorate program in biochemistry is designed to provide training for students whose career objectives are research/teaching positions in biochemistry.
8. Program Qualification (Outputs)
At the end of this program, students will learn anatomical topics in current medical and scientific literature. Student will be able share their knowledge with both undergraduates and other colleagues, design their own scientific research in their major area, and develop critically thinking and writing skills.

15. Department Resources
For scientific research in our Department, including UV spectrophotometer, ELISA reader, HPLC equipment and a fully automated devices of Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory are working prior to international standards.
